Privacy Policy

TextShot (“the App”) is a text capture and note-taking application developed by Arestik. This privacy policy explains how the App handles user data.

TextShot is designed with privacy as a core principle. All data is stored locally on your device. No data is sent to any server, cloud, or third party.

• All notes, captures, highlights, bookmarks, and settings are stored exclusively in a local SQLite database on your device.
• No cloud storage, sync, or backup service is used by the App. Backups are user-initiated and stored only where the user chooses (device storage, Google Drive, or other file locations).
• No user accounts, registration, or login is required or possible.
• There is no server, API, or remote database associated with this App.

TextShot uses Android’s Accessibility Service for its core functionality: capturing visible text from the screen when the user initiates a capture.

• When it activates: Only when the user explicitly triggers a capture (via notification button, Quick Settings tile, or gesture).
• What it accesses: Visible text content displayed on the screen at the moment of capture.
• How it’s used: The captured text is processed entirely on-device and saved to the local database as a note.
• What is NOT done:Accessibility data is never stored beyond the active capture session, never shared, never transmitted, and never used for any purpose other than fulfilling the user’s explicit capture request.
• No surveillance: The Accessibility Service does not run in the background monitoring screen content. It only activates on explicit user action.

• Voice capture uses on-device speech recognition.
• Audio recordings are processed locally and transcribed into text.
• No audio data is ever uploaded to any server.
• Transcribed text is stored only in the local database.

• When you attach images or files to notes, those files remain on your device.
• The App requests media permissions only when you choose to attach media to a note.
• Files are never transmitted off your device.

• No advertising SDKs are integrated into the application.
• No analytics or crash reporting tools are active in the application.
• No usage tracking of any kind is implemented.
• The App does not communicate with any external service.

TextShot does not collect, store, or transmit:

• Personal information (name, email, phone number, address)
• Location data
• Device identifiers
• Usage statistics or analytics
• Crash logs or diagnostics
• Browsing history, contacts, or calendar data
• Health, fitness, or financial information

The App declares the INTERNET permission, which is required by the underlying framework (Expo/React Native). The App itself makes no network requests and does not transmit any data over the internet.

TextShot does not knowingly collect any personal information from children. The App is not specifically directed at children under the age of 13.

The App relies on Android’s built-in filesystem encryption to protect data at rest. Since no data is transmitted over the network, there is no data in transit to secure. Users can delete all app data at any time through Android’s system settings or by uninstalling the App.

Since TextShot does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data, there is no personal data to access, correct, or delete from any server. All user-generated content (notes, captures, settings) is stored locally on the device and can be managed directly by the user through the App or device settings.

If this privacy policy is updated, the “Last updated” date at the top will be revised. Material changes will be communicated through the App’s version release notes.
